2) The Protein Pow(d)er Cookbook
Protein is the food to consume if you want to lose weight, build muscle, have more energy, perform better and feel your best.
Most people toss a scoop into a protein shake and call it a day, but Anna Sward realised that she could use protein powders to make her own high-protein bars, breads, quiches, pizza, muffins, pancakes, cookies, cakes and more – all without sugar, refined carbohydrates, unhealthy fats and preservatives.
Anna Sward’s recipes have been published in magazines all over the world, including Muscle & Fitness, Men’s Health and Oxygen.
Grip strength is becoming an increasingly valued quality and in many cases, the missing link in an athletes’ strength training. When you think about it, you can only shift as much weight as you can take a hold of. Conventional wisdom for improving grip has been to increase purchase on the bar, whether using lifting straps, rubber grip aids or even chemical compounds. Fat Gripz, fly in the opposite direction: by increasing the difficulty of the grip, they focus on building that attribute.

Soft tissue work is extremely important especially as the general public is exercising more and more. As we contract muscles in either exercise or just everyday movement we develop trigger points. These little points cause the muscles and surrounding connective tissue to not function as well as it should further increasing the risk of injury. Foam Rolling will help to release muscle tension, improve flexibility, help to prevent injury, improve muscle performance, release stress in the body and remove muscle knots.
You can find step by step information and videos for foam rolling every part of your body with Jono Freeman’s, Foam Rolling App and eBook ‘The Complete Guide to Foam Rolling’. Jono is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist, Sport Scientist and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist so certainly knows a thing or two about this subject.

Is the person you are buying for always reading and searching for more information online or in a book trying to educate themselves, wanting to learn and better understand how to achieve their training goals? These two books are a couple of my favourites and perhaps two of the ‘classics’ of the training world.
Starting Strength – Mark Rippetoe The Starting Strength System makes use of the body’s most basic movement patterns – barbell exercises that involve all the body’s muscle mass – utilized over the longest effective range of motion and loaded progressively, to force the adaptations necessary for increased strength. Unlike other popular exercise protocols, Starting Strength is a training system – a long-term process designed for getting stronger over time, not a random collection of exercises that just make you hot, sweaty, sore, confused, and tired today.
The Encyclopaedia of Modern Bodybuilding – Arnold Schwarzenegger Referred to as the “Bible of Bodybuilding” Arnold covers the very latest advances in both weight training and bodybuilding competition, with sections on diet and nutrition, sports psychology, the treatment and prevention of injuries, and methods of training. Covering every level of expertise and experience, it includes comprehensive information on health, nutrition, and dietary supplements to help you build muscle, lose fat, and maintain optimum energy
