Get the F*** off them Scales!

Hey that got your attention!

This blog post is about them dreaded scales…

I’m sick of seeing people jump on the scales every single day to see how they are tracking yet only using this method to monitor progress.

So, I did a little experiment which included weighing myself in every single day for 4 weeks, logging it and watching my body weight fluctuate around like a ping pong ball due to many factors that will effect over all body weight including:

Water retention, Hydration, Overall calories consumed, Fat loss, Muscle gain just to name the obvious.

weigh in blog

As you can see above my body weight fluctuates between 94.5kg and 90.5kg. The biggest fluctuations are due to over consumption of food like on cheat meal days and I believe on the other end of the scale I was really dehydrated at times there for weighed less. Does weighing less always mean better? I don’t think so keep in mind if you weigh less you may also have less muscle you won’t look as lean. As I said, many things effect body weight- please stop just using the scales as your only means to monitoring progress.

Weigh in tips-

Weigh in once a week, keep it on the same day, after urinating in the morning – this is when you are a true indication of your body weight.

Use other methods to monitor progress for example take photos- again this can be done once per week, get you body fat% taken by a professional and take your bodies measurements.

In concluding: I hope you can see how easy it is to manipulate your body weight just because you’re lighter it doesn’t always mean it’s good or just because you’re heavier that doesn’t mean it’s bad the whole point of this blog is just to point out not fretting about jumping on them scales day in day out.

I hope this helps and feel free to comment.
