3 things that piss me off…
Hey guys, sorry for the lack of blog posts lately – it’s been a super busy period, no excuse but I haven’t had a lot of time to do much writing.
Enough of that, here we go.
I wanted to get a few things off my chest that are irritating me about the fitness industry.
1) Results…
Why do you think you will get results over night?
The amount of times I have watched people start training Monday and expect to be ‘ripped’ by Friday astounds me.
It takes you years to get out of shape, yet you expect to get into shape overnight? It doesn’t stack up and you know it.
Learn to enjoy the process, learn to train properly and learn that building health will keep you in shape year round. Don’t be that person who jumps in and out of stupid protocols in search of getting in shape in the shortest time possible.
Nothing shits me more than the person who jumps from different training or nutrition programs expecting better results each time they change, when all that is needed is consistency.
Consistently train well and supply your body with good nutrition and the results will come, I know you have heard this before but it’s a ‘lifestyle’.
2) Supplements…
Have you nailed your nutrition? Do you adhere to your nutrition plan 80-90% of the time? If not, you have no place searching for the supps until you do.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m a big advocate of supplements but way too many people think they’ll jam a few expensive supplements down their neck and everything will fall into place.
False.
Nail the nutrition and then you’re ready for supplements.
3) Abs…
When did abs define health? When did a 6 pack become so important?
Do you need to walk around with abs 24/7 to be healthy? Bullshit.
If having abs is the goal, which is totally fine doing 1000 crunches rocky style won’t do shit except leave you with a sore back.
Studies show that you get more abdominal recruitment through chin ups then what you do during crunches. Abdominals are muscles and I agree they do need to be trained but if you want them to pop concentrate on your overall body composition through nutrition and bang for your buck training rather than piss poor training protocols.
In conclusion, I feel much better now…
Thanks for reading.
